I sold an item on eBay last night, quite a large amount, £500.
The guys emailed me to say his paypal is down and can I provide him with my account details for him to make a BACS transfer.
I'm happy to provide my details but how safe is this, ie. Can he recall the money after i've sent the item?

Loads of topics on this, as far as I can remember they can't be cancelled
Wait for it to clear in your account if you're worried about it, should be pretty quick if he uses online banking.
Transferred money from Natwest to Halifax and it was instant the other day

I just found something in the ebay help thing that says its perfectly safe however if something goes wrong you're not protected by the PayPal protection. Ah well they never back the seller anyway.

Exactly. They can't take anything from your account and PayPal protection is only really good for buyers.
