Thinking of upgrading from the corsa to one of the above - V5 is leading due to 2.3l grunt, Octavia is cheap and Rv4 is quick and probably more durable.. . what do you reckon ?

Maybe you should be a Triumph Dolomite Toledo, you can get them in a nice brown colour you know, don't think you can with Seat...

Don't think so Sam - if I'm gonna go classic, it would have to be an Austin Allegro on 13" 3 spokes :-)

Skoda would be a good bet - still haven't shaken the badge prejudice over here so they are well cheap - 2000 1.8 Turbo going for €10500 at the mo ( 'bout 7grand sterling ). Toledo is a 99 2.3 on 17's - 50k miles, fsh and rare - going for €11500 (7.5k sterling ?).
Ned to make a few more payments on the corsa first - goddam finance ! :-)

WTF is wrong with Si ? Plan to buy second hand - bought the corsa new and it's lost a fortune on depreciation - never again !!
Larger engined cars depreciate v.quickly over here due to the high insurance & road tax premiums - makes them a good buy after a couple of years though.

teh toledo and the octavia are the same platform. Is it the 150hp V5 or the 170hp varient your after. if its the 150 then forget it and get the 150 octavia and get it chipped to 190hp

I thought the Toledo V5 was a 2.3 170bhp - didn't know there was a 150bhp version - a lot of the driving do is stop start city running - not usually the best conditions for turbo's I'm told...
