This is a video we made at work of us fitting an exhaust system to a peugeot 206, we were targeting 2 minutes,

Would be interested to see it started up to check for blows when you're done

Depends on the vehicle, average fitting time is usualy 6-7 minutes on most vehicles,

should of done that really, but it's our first attempt, no trickery involved thats our normal fitting time, but it honestly didnt have any blows, after we turned the videos off the customer came down and drove the car away straight away
We have another video currently being uploaded from the back of the ramp aswell

id rather go somewhere that is slower and makes a perfect job.. i cant see why changing an exhaust that quick is so benificial.

if you'd like to come down we'll prove to you that it still a proper job, we have many customers that come back to us time and time again because it's fitted properly lasts ages and if there is a problem they come back and we sort it straight away with no hastle...
the benifit of doing it fast is you dont have to be stood around in a garage for ages or be without your car for a day or more, you drive in and by the time you've filled in the invoice and paid your driving back out again with a new exhaust, yes occasionally some things dont fit perfectly, that was one that thankfully fitted perfect first time, some we have to heat and adjust with oxy accetaline, but we never let a car drive off that we wouldnt be happy driving ourselves

Customer was charged £69.90, thats supplied, fitted, new clamps, rubbers if needed, new bolts, gaskets, vat everything

So out of interest, if I brought my 206 in for a new exhaust and you did a 'Super speedy 2 min chuck it in' exhaust fitment and at the same point, someone else brought a 206 in for which it took you 30 mins to do because of problems, whould we both pay the same labour?

I would guess yes, although the hourly rate is a fairly standard way of pricing jobs, it's by no means the only way.

sorry, but my experience of having things done (and doing it myself) fast end up with making silly mistakes. Mistakes that can be completley avoided if a little but of time was taken.

yes, we quote before hand and dont alter the price at all! even if we cock up on the quote we stand by it.
say for intance your car has 2 choices of exhausts we quote using the cheaper of the 2, you turn up and infact its actually the dearer 1, we take the knock and charge you the same as quoted,

Shouldn't you take it for a test drive or atleast check it befor the customer takes it??

Like i said that one went together well, some dont but on those ones we take our time to adjust, we can afford to spend time on the ones that are awkward because we make up for it on the ones that go together easy, nothing leaves this garage until we've checked over the exhaust for leaks, knocks everything. this video is just showing how quick it can be done, like i said feel free to come down, more than welcome to stand and watch us and you can even check the system over your self when were done
Were exhaust specialists we only do this job, nothing else so we know how its done, been the same family for 24 years on this site, no company in there right mind would post a video of there work if they cant back it up, it's purely a bit of fun and to show what we can do, in this instance we were working quicker than normal as we had challenged each other to complete it in 2 minutes, if anything had held us up then we would of sorted it and fucked the challenge of, still would of posted the video though as the video wasnt about the speed

And to all the people saying we cut corners and dont do it right, you dont get to stick around for 24 years and own vast amounts of stock as we do if people dont keep coming back
http://www.actionexhaustcentre.co.uk/ some pictures on there of the stock we carry, my boss is a walking talking catalogue, ask him about any vehicle and he can usually spout of the correct part to fit that system, and walk you through how its fitted without even being under the vehicle

TBH most fitters take their time because they spent part of their time scratching their asses and chatting/joking with their workmates, then buggering off for about 30 mins to work on someone else's car, and in between everything walk off to the other side of the workshop to answer the phone.
