Hi there I have a really bad tin-like rattle when I rev the engine slightly comes in at about 1200 rpm. On idle the rattle fades so its not really audible. I've been under the car and knocked the exhuast and it seem to be coming from my silence decat.
I don't think I had a very good manifold to cat gasket (The metal wire mesh ring) could this cause a tinny rattle?
Also could the noise be any blowing?
Cheers!

Yep sounds like a blow from manifold to decat join Mine did this and it was a proper loud screeching and rattling sound.

Have it running and hold your hand around it, see if you can feel it blowing

Yeah will do, can anything come loose inside the decat? Or will it just blow out?

I dont think there is a heatshield as the rattle come from the decat.
Also it rattles if its knocked when not idleing therefore surely it's not blowing?

I used to get a rattle often on my mk3 astra. Replaced the centre section which included the silencer and rattle stopped. Mustve been loose parts in the silencer.
