Aren't they a higher tension or something?

What I want to know is why do they let it drop and swing after they've fired it. JUST HOLD ONTO THE BLOODY THING YOU IDIOTS

I had a go of a compound bow when I was at school. Because of the pulley system it has this weird effect where it's difficult to pull back the string until you get it past a certain point, then it takes hardly any effort to hold it. You can therefore take your time with your aim. All of those arms and things sticking off it at to counter balance it I think. My mate at work is well into archery so I'll ask him.

I've always assumed thats so they can easily see the shot they've just made. No idea if thats right or not. Don't see any other reason for it swinging out the way though.
