i want to know what you use to key walls before reskimming them? also is it necessary to brush water/pva mix onto the wall first if the wall is painted

Just give it a base coat of white first when plastered, will take a bit to get good coverage, then paint colour of choice!

is that expensive? obviously it would be a lot cheaper in the long term is there was some kind of a tool that scores the wall

It's about £13 a tub but will cover a large area! It's what I'm using on my Walls and ceilings anyways!

you only need to pva it 5:1, no need for bonding agent. have you plastered before? make sure you have a decent trowel!

Same as Wickes stuff but theirs is pink and cheaper.

Could just chuck some grit into paint if wanted to do it really cheap.

cheers for the replies. with any luck i'll get in with a plastering gang coz there is no money in brickwork anymore but i want to practice on my own house so i dont step into the trade a massive novice. reskimmed one room but prepped it with strong pva and water mix but wondered if there was anything better and cheaper

good to practice in a cupboard first. pva or sbr is the tool for the job. when you can do ten board ceilings late on a friday night it gets boring tho. lol
