Thats correct, people fail with CATS all the time and spots cats etc so no more illegal than a car that cant pass it emissions

i thought if vosa done checks, and seen you had a decat they would/could impound your car.

i thought decats were banned for road use??

police do roadside emission tests and if you fail you have to get the car restested i believe and prove to them its roadworthy

Smash out the honeycomb stuff instead the cat if you can. Then it looks like you have a cat but its just a piece of pipe.

Its because its classed as a mod. If you car needs a cat then obv you wont be able to insure without one because it illegal to do and as its not on your insurance, they dont have to pay out. Just like having alloys etc on but there not on your insurance.

Before people go on, im not on my high horse telling you not to do it etc etc. I know alot of people do it but its probably best you know then find out when your insurance wont pay out.
