Never ever dealt with unlocking before, only jailbreaking, im hoping someone else can help.
I have an Iphone4 locked on a crappy '3' network.
My questions are;
1. is it possible to unlock, regardless of the software/baseband version?
2, is it possible to brick while unlocking?

1) Yes, hardware unlock - usually costs £15-20 or so from your network or local stall/shop
2) From what i remember you can unbrick an iPhone which is relatively easy to do, so you shouldn't have any problems.

I requested a unlock from o2 and works fine.
Out of interest does that unlock remain even if I upgrade the os or baseband ?

Phone 3, ask them to unlock it... if they want a reason, say you go abroad a lot and have an AT&T sim you'd like to put in your phone... it'll cost £15.
I had one, and now has an o2 simcard in it. So it is possible.

Yes, once it's unlocked its unlocked. Only if you've unlocked it by jailbreak would you lose it.
