Wouldnt mind some for the astra MK5, but just wondering if they are worth it.
Will they be pulled on MOT or is it garage discretion.
Are they reliable or do they often fail.
Whats ur thoughts, only looking at the legal 6k ones.
Best place to get them

Some say on the internet that they are an MOT fail and are illegal. I have had mine on for 8 months, passed and MOT and never been pulled and never been flashed for them being dazzling. Mine are 6k also. If you buy a decent set they are reliable and often have some warning. See MJ on here or sticky in classifieds, he sells slim ballast kits and I got some from him.
Also none are more legal than others, just the ones that are more blue will obviously increase the risk of being pulled but ones with a slight blue tint dont look much different from the tint that xenons have

Lots of other reasons eg projector lenses etc. I think even if you have everything needed its still illegal if the car didn't leave the factory with them or isn't an option on the car from factory

There's this, but I think the law was changed in 2010 http://www2.dft.gov.uk/pgr/roadsafety/drs/hidheadlamps.html
1. The headlamp unit (outer lens, reflector, bulb) shall be type approved to ECE 98 and be "e-marked" to demonstrate this. That can only be done by the headlamp supplier - Hella, Valeo etc. who must test the headlamp in an independent laboratory.
2. Once fitted to the vehicle it must have headlamp cleaning and self-levelling (which can be for the headlamp or can be in the vehicle suspension - some expensive estate cars have "self-levelling suspension" and that is adequate). Also the dipped beam must stay on with the main beam.

No problems with my 6000k HIDs on my vRS. Never been flashed and passed 3 MOT's (different test centres).

Like the others said basically.. I've had HID's on 3 different cars (I've gone for 4300k on all of them for a whiter light) And i've never been stopped, passed the MOT everytime and tbh that's the first Mod that i'd do to any car im going to buy in the future. Even got a kit on my escort van at the moment.
Also, regarding the LED sidelights.. I've been told aslong as they're white/yellow they are legal, none of the blue/red/green ones though.

I had 8ks on my corsa. They were more blue than White. Never once got pulled or flashed. I'm going to 6k now in my astra but they're so worth the money! Light up much more of the road and look much better

H.I.D's in non-projector headlights look utter crap no matter how bright they are.The light output is messy and scattered all over the place.

I hate people that put HID's in cars that don't have projector headlights!
They are too bring and unfocused!
