Evening chaps. I've got a 08 vectra 1.9 cdti and the Eml has jist come on today. Just wondering if anyone here knows of a paperclip type test for this car. Could really do with finding out whats wrong without it without shelling out £££

Vectra c uses canbus. I don't think paperclip test is possible. Does it have a particle filter on it? Common on diesils if you don't do motorway miles, the filter blocks up

Is that similar or the same as a dpf filter? I believe its got that

I've read on other forums that some combination of pedals and ignition switch flash error codes up but haven't had any joy with that so far. I'll try again in the morning

I'm not too sure on the pedal's but you could be right. I've seen some wierd diag methods.

The only reason I mentioned particle filter is because I've seen it before, comes on without warning and doesn't really affect performance.

You can buy hand held diagnostic code readers pretty cheap now

put your foot flat on accel pedal
put your other foot hard on brake pedal
turn ignition on (DON'T START THE ENGINE!!)
watch the fault code appear on the dash

Gave that a try but no joy. All ignition lights just came on as usual

Try it again n see if EML starts flashing a code out (similar to paperclip test)

The above happens on Corsa C

It must have been a Mk D that the code appears on screen, i was just doing it the other day.

Tried numerous times with no joy. Gave it a 4th gear 70mph blast today and its gone off. Happy days!! Until it comes back on
