I'll keep this short...need a car for the gf with the first budget of around £2k. She wanted to sell her ford ka and get something a bit more bigger/special but still with cheap insurance. Everything i wanted her to get is silly high insurance, must be group 6 or below i think. Apart from the usual 1.2 corsa/clio options which imo are a bit boring and in a year or two will be a wreck/bored of im totally stuck on what to suggest.

The only thing that we can think of is raising the budget to around £3k as there's quite a few minis coming up for that now. Has anybody got any experience in the 51 reg mini ones? Is it risky getting one at the bottom price? Im hoping to find one with the cooper kit on but maybe im pushing it.

This car would be ideal if it was a ONE, seems a bit cheap though so a bit fishy.

Any advice or suggestions appreciated

also it says "Cash on collection. £200 deposit is required immediately through PayPal"

that sounds dodgy to me

I put that down to maybe being copied from an ebay ad. This car was just an example, there is a few around that price with the cooper kit on or some extras (although nowhere near as the one i posted, must be dodgey Lol).

I've read a few times that the gearboxs fail, anybody know more about this?

Mini one is group 12 Insurance, isn't that great when something with very close stats in power like a 1.4 sxi is group 9, guess it's down to value if stolen.

Sorry, was meaning the older insurance groups. No idea what the new ones are. Did a quote on a mini one and was decent enough, the cooper was a few hundred more so may be tempted. Anything else i tried was way too high.

Might be worth trying for an mx5 if the insurance isn't too high, Not sure what group they would fall in to in old terms but in new terms they are 17 I think.

Great cars and a bit different to the norm.
