im sure i managed it before in a octavia but someone said its not possible and u need a welded diff... bs right?

Can be done if you can overcome the forward motion with the handbrake.

You need both wheels spinning, but that is as much about how they break traction as anything else. LSD would help I guess, but I wouldn't say it's essential.

looked like his tyres were pretty slick in the damp conditions too - like how it is in the ice / snow, put the power on and it goes sideways (with a lsd)

the power and torque of your car would rip the tarmac up and drag it backwards thus pulling the car infront into you
