A weird thing, but i reverse around the same corner/junction as my brother does in his car, i've been passenger in his car while he does it, and vice versa.
I've always pulled up and reversed in one smooth movement then stoppped, whereas my bro seems to make a big deal out of it, like reverse a little bit then forwards, then back a bit more, eventually stops and i'm thinking wtf, but never said anything
last time i did it, he commented "your turning circle is alot better than mine" although i've done the junction the same in corsa, corrado, bravo, and the escort and never had the problem.
wtf is a reverse turning circle and surely it doesn't really matter as the turning wheels are at the front, i just put it down to me being better.

Would you agree, that because you are pivoting on the turning wheels when reversing, the turning circle should be smaller.
Might be a bit complicated for you, so happy to talk about brand new cars on pay monthly contract

As the pivoting wheels are at the back when reversing i would expect it to be smaller as you said but i would think you would only notice a differeance at speed, could be wrong though.
I would also say that the steering on the vectra may be bad and have a large turning circle regardless of direction
