It is about the EU thinking people should be automatically entitled to 'a right to reside'
Basically I think meaning that people can them come here and claim benefits straight away.

what does all this mean?
stopping europeans coming here to live or stopping them coming here and getting benefits?
I agree dont give them benefits but dont have a problem with them coming to work, ive been to spain working for 6 months before and loved it.

Basically at the moment you can't just turn up and claim jobseekers, child benefit etc you have to basically comply with "a right to reside" -
The following have a right to reside in the United Kingdom:
•UK nationals
•A ‘qualified person’
•A family member of a ‘qualified person’
•A person who has ceased activity as an employed person
•A workseeker
•A person who has a permanent right of residence
•Person who has leave to enter or remain in the United Kingdom
•Persons who have been granted exceptional or discretionary leave or humanitarian protection
But there are other ways you can comply with it

Apparently its against EU law and they have given the UK 2 months to comply.
Essentially, unless we can wriggle out of it, Vlashkleb can bring his family from Poland and claim every benefit going from the government without having to put a single penny back into the economy. Nice

Get fed up with this stuff. Also annoys me when i watch Customs UK on pick TV when they are investigating someone who shouldnt be here, they give them a bloody house or flat to live in while there doing it.

I'd assume we can go to any contry in the EU and claim whatever they have on offer. The more likely thing is they don't offer as many handouts hence why they want to come here

What do we expect when we're in the EU ?
We can't join it and get the benifits from it then not expect to give european people the same rights as us British would have in any other EU country.
Of course when this will be appled it will be another tick box on the list for the immigrants who plan to come here.
An already over crowded country that struggles to supply decent level or public services and now we are to spend more money that could be for British residents on people who have been here for two seconds and surley once they are allowed to claim for something like JSA, they will then be put on the housing list ? A list that is already something like 1 year minimum for anyone who isn't with a child or has an illness..
I believe the work force is made up of something like 1-2% foreign workers - So now when this benifit system is applied there will be a situation if there isn't already where they are giving out more money in benifits then they are making from taxes etc from foreign workers.

as a uk national i didnt think you could claim benefits if your national insurance contributions were low? that definately applies to JSA because one of my friends had that problem

Income based JSA I think he can get.
You don't need to have any NIC for that.
