Looking to upgrade my phone next month, the bolt on has a free unlimited wifi log in for bt openzone.

I have checked where I live and they only have BTFon in the area.....

Now, my question is...... can I access the BTFon thing using my log in details?

O2 says "The All-Rounder is a bigger package. You'll get 500MB, unlimited public Wi-Fi (through The Cloud and BT Openzone) and 20 free media messages for £6 a month. We recommend The All Rounder for most Smartphone, iPhone and BlackBerry customers."

BTFON (iirc) is like BT OpenZOne but only for BT customers (rather than sold on by others aka openzone). might be wrong though

I'd disagree there, get 500kb/s on the torrents using it.

IIRC If you've got BTFON activated on your router so it's shared for other BTFON users, then your same username/password will work to log onto other BTFON enabled routers.

If you get the bolt on - you can only access The Cloud and BT Openzone networks.

BTFon is something separate altogether - as someone already mentioned, it's for BT users who opt to open a % of their bandwidth available to anyone else opted into the service.

I tried to connect to a BTFon network the other day (I have the bolt on) and was prompted for my BT login details.

Do you need to get o2 to give you the log on details then? I've found BT openzone areas a few times but never been able to get on them. I'm on o2 with iPhone and the 1gb bolt on.

I chose the 500mb one when I got the phone but blitzed through that watching sky go on 3G. I got a text saying I was up to my data limit and followed the link to up my allowance.

It seems even though it came up as openzone it was probably a BTFON instead and you need BT broadband to access these.
