iv just fitted a race tube and it had just about as much clearance as the last centre i had on so i extended it at the de-cat side and cut off and welded back on the back box end so the arch is over the axle and not before it. im only 60mm rear but my cars a freak and sits low
edit, also have an old timing belt cut and wrapped around the bean with a jubilee clip at each end

Yes I always have an opinion on everything.
As you said yourself, it's an opinion.
Buy omg if you've done it, it must be awesome.
Maybe everyone should do this. P.s, well done on the use of my otter username, not sure why was needed though

You may be able to sort it by loosening off the backbox and twisting it a bit, but I cable tied an old exhaust rubber over the beam too which did help. Not perfect but it worked

For some reason mine doesn't catch at all.
Only thing i did was higher the back box up abit with a little bodge on one of the rubbers, that must have sorted the clearance.
