where there is a problem that is impossible to solve but then a secondary character says something that gives the main character an idea? it goes something like this:
"what did you just say"
"what? i just said blah, blah, blah..."
"no, no, the other thing you said..."
classic example in Independance Day which i'm watching right now. they even did it in recent films like the hangover.
there must be a proper name for when they work that into the script.
