Has anyone tried fixing their own iPhone?
My back case is cracked, the power button doesn't work anymore, and the vibrate function hasn't worked for months
It's coming up to 2 years old next month (finally finished my contract! )
I've found a new back case, new power button and the motor for the vibrating. Just wondering how easy, or hard, it'll be to do myself? I'm not bad with some electrical stuff, managed to fix a couple of xbox's before, built some of my own PC a few years ago. So i should be able to have a crack at it myself

changing the back housing can be difficult if your not used to doing stuff like that.everything screws to it so you have lots of bits and lots of tiny screws and can be quite fiddly. i watched youtube videos of how to do it over and over. decided to go for it and wasnt to bad . just make sure all the bits go back where you took them out
think its crazy places charge £50+ to change a screen and its a 10 minute job and the bit costs £12
also make sure you get a decent qualilty back housing as ive had a few that are cheap chinease copys and just dont look/feel right.

The screens are about 6 quid now. You will want a new one as your likely to break it.
It's fairly straightforward just YouTube search. There's loads of videos on how to do it all

Shouldnt break the screen but as Dan says cheap enough to replace!
3GS you work from screen to back, removing components as you go.
4 / 4S you work from back to screen.
Both a pretty easy to work on, just lay your components out with the correct screws so you know what goes where.

I did mine then broke it the day after . When you replace the screen the chances of it fitting snug (i.e the glass lining up with the side of the casing) is slim, so whenever you do drop it, the edges of the glass is the first thing to hit.

Ashleh, it took me 18months to smash the original screen. Dropped it a shit load of times.
Then the past 6 months i smashed it at least 8 times. Always broke alot easier. Even just leaning on it killed it.

They're terrible, once you've broke the screen once, it's fucked lmao.

I also changed the charging port once, and since then, every now and then it buzzes through the speaker during a call, and nobody can hear you.
Never got round to sorting it, and the phones now going to mazuma, so hopefully they dont notice

3G/S are very easy to do, just need patience.
All the sreens i've done line up perfectly, just as before. Never had anything break after replacing the rear housing either. Heard lots of stories about people loosing, gps, wifi ect when put back together but these people shouldn't be taking them apart in the first place.

Use a magnetised screwdriver as well. You can have the phone completely apart in 10 mins, but the screws are so small and fiddly when you put it back together
