the car will be more stable at high speed with a bigger front, will understeer more on slower, sharper bends.

exactly.
Dont bother with a bigger front roll bar.
My old one had minimal understeer and was slightly tail happy as I had it set up softer on the front and harder on the rear.
I had
888's
whiteline rarb
Full 10 point cage
Softer front springs compared to the rear, the rears being custom 90mm lowering and 300lb(iirc), the fronts were just normal lowering springs matched to the front shocks. I didn't run coilovers.
Everything that could be polybushed was polybushed.
Standard gsi front arb.
And it went alright.

Have you checked alignment on all 4 wheels? Slightly bent rear stub axel can cause alot of problems for example but its not visible by eye.
If car is back end happy this means your rear setup is too hard. You can either make rear softer by turning the stifness on the shocks down, or reduce tyre pressure etc. Or make the front harder, either by higher poundage springs or an ARB, I wouldn't get a whiteline one, in fact I would look for the skinniest one you can get like of 1.0/1.2.
