Looking at getting a 1 series, but not sure which model to get? I took a 123d out last weekend and was very impressed, completely different to the Focus (which I'm selling by the way if anyone's interested?!), but that's a given I suppose!
Looking around, there doesn't seem to be many 123d's of the spec I'm looking for so am after some opinions on the 120d and the 118d to see if the 123d is really worth paying the extra for?
I'm after 18's, leather, bluetooth (professional CD) and xenon's in an ideal world, which seem easier to get in 120d guise than the 123d....
Let me know your thoughts if you've had any experience of any of them!

Also, remember having a play with a 1 series when.i had the focus, guessing it was diesel from the black smoke and i couldnt get past or close the gap. Quick cars.

Far more 120D ex demos to be had with a good spec than 123D's. 120D is probably the better trade off economy v performance. IIRC the 123D has a closer ratio box (according to the dealer).
I want a similar spec, not bothered about the leather but want bluetooth. Looking at new or ex demo.

I only drive the 118d's and 120d's for work so cant comment on the 123d.
but imo i would go for the 120, better pull on the engine which leads to more fun.
the 118d just doesnt have the poke for the weight of it.
both are great on fuel, i have regulary returned over 40mpg with standard an motorway driving.

Sorry to disappoint gents, but I put a deposit on this earlier...
118d M Sport
12,700 miles
Heated leather
18's
xenon's
USB interface
12 months warrenty
etc. etc.
I shocked myself going for the 118d to be honest, but it had everything I was after, has 12 months warrenty and it is immaculate, even though it hadn't been valeted yet, I had to have it!

Problem with the ones pre 2011 is that they don't have any cup holders which is frustrating!!
Looks a good example mate.

My missus just bought a 1 series - 120d but with the official BMW Performance pack which takes it to 200bhp (basically standard 123d levels). First owner had it as a company car from BM so it has everything on the options list and some things that aren't, like auto folding mirrors.
One thing that came out of her looking for these is how hard it is to add trim options, just putting in the large cupholder requires removal of the complete centre console
Looks like a lovely motor though Mase, sports seats are great

Dad has a 120d and it's fantastic. Can't see the 118d being much worse. It's the same engine just detuned. Remap and jobs a good'un.

I thought this too, but it's not the case. You can probably remap a 118 to 120 spec, but the engines are different, if only slightly.

I drove my sisters 118d coupe to Liverpool and back, averaged 59.9mpg on motorway at 70/80 and it dropped to around 53mpg around town. Such nice cars.
