Real simple have something running off the battery black wire is negative and red is positive.
I want to extend both wires so there longer what type of wire do I have to use is it diffrent types or just a standard wire x

halfrauds sell loads of different thickness's near the sound system area but cant imagine they the cheapest place to get it..

Find out the current draw of whatever your running as that'll dictate the guage of the cable

Colour is irrelevant, it's the number of and size of the strands inside. Colour is used to identify what wires doing what

Its got nothing to do with the strands either, all you need to worry about is the size. The bigger the cable the higher the current it can carry

In theory it's to do with the cross sectional area and the number of strands, in automotive you want as fine stranded wire as you can find, as the wire with a couple of thick strands tends to break through movement and vibration.

yes i know all that im an electrician all i was saying was the number of strands dosent dertermine the current it can carry
