iirc alot of that is already taken into account and alot of things on a mot are as the MOT tester sees fit wether it is going to cause a problem or not

also i dont care what the AA say as there is a few things on there were people are going to be exempt due to medical resons ext so its a load of balls if a air bag is fitted as standard and properly removed then there is no issue and will not fail if its not there to test then they cant test it or pose an issue to the car if you fit an after market steering wheel and your car had air bags provided the airbag light is not on then it is not an issue

I dont see why you must be able to move your seat for an mot. Aslong as the driver is safe, can reach the pedals properly etc then why does it matter?
Airbag - does this mean i cant change my steering wheel? If im not bothered about an airbag in MY steering wheel in MY car, then why does it have to have to have one?

I don't see why anyone cares tbh, most of the people on here know someone who they can slip a £20 and get a pass anyway.

ours are bolted in
They are checking the mechanism works, if there isn't one then they can't test it so it'll be fine unless the garage split hairs/hate you.

Only the doors are on the current MOT
I did post the provisional inspection manual a month or so ago for 2012

This - the actual wording of the failure is:
The driver’s seat fore and aft adjustment mechanism not functioning as intended.
So doesnt apply to the passenger seat - also if there is no adjustment mechanism then it cannot be tested and therefore not failed

I think for removing things such as ABS, airbags etc. Its more of if its broken/got a problem, rather than you will fail if its been completely removed.
Just like removing rear wiper, spare wheel, etc. Can't fail if its not there

but i always thought ifa safety device showed a "error" light that was a fail.
i always took it that if the car has the device, it must work.
if the car has airbags...but there is an airbag light lit (showing error/fault) that is a fail.
if the car has no airbag it can't be failed for not having one!
the same for ABS or selt belts or any other (safety/warning) device....
i know on a personal level i wouldn't consider a car "safe" if it showed an error on the dash, and would question the MOT if obvious features like a speedo, or main beam/indicator lihts didnt work...
