When I say practical I mean along the lines of it being a usable every day car.
what does the car have to do? if its just a mediocre daily work and back car does it really have to cost 20k?

I'll be looking for a car that's a bit of an animal when I want a play but also something the wife and I can use with ease to the shops and back.
I was just wondering what others would buy with that kind of cash.

suppose its a case of something fast enough and economical enough then really? id personally just buy 2 cars instead. the daily commute hack, that does the economy, then something else to have fun in. although that depends if you can afford to run 2 cars like that i guess?

I already have the fiesta as the work hack that's bought and paid for and is mega cheap to run.
This will be our fancy car as the wife puts it lol. I was going to go for another Evo but the thought of servicing it every 4k miles again just doesn't appeal and the fuel consumption is laughable on them. 180mls to a tank of super is my best.
I don't really know whether to go for a fast diesel or petrol.

Either a Corsa LET with £19900 spent on it or a 106 GTi with £19900 spent on it.

Thats awful have you seen the running costs too, they make an m3 seem like a cheap runaround in comparison

you'd have to clarify that some more, i use my MX5 everyday, it is my daily drive, it is comfortable on long trips, and fast enough to keep me smiling on the B-roads.
for me, a two seater is practical....i assume you have a family or other genuine need for rear seats and a large boot for more than a weekend away for two?

S8's are not typically driven by neds, not are there thousands on the roads. Therefore they are not that bad to insure. I'm 28 and my lat quote was about £500.

123D or 335D. I would like either if those as a next car when I want to save money.
