Any ideas?

I have put a new C16XE engine in my Corsa and there is no spark although there is power to the coil. The old wiring has not been changed since the old C16XE went bang and melted a piston (instant 3 cylinder conversion!). The ECU is flashing up Fault Code 72, which is EST (ignition system) lines (open-circuit). Everything seems to be connected so have i missed something obvious? I have fuel, just no spark.

Would that mean it's not earthed? Or the earths you do have are not able to supply the current?

Have changed the coil pack but made no difference.

Earth is good but will check it again.

Thanks, Graham.

Take a spark plug out with it still connected to the ht lead and hold it on the cylinder head to get an earth and then crank the engine whilst someone watches to see if the plug sparks. If it doesn't then try another coil on it and make an extra earth .

Are you getting power to the coil?

Will swap the crank sensor today although it does not show a crank fault and there is a good fuel supply.
Yes there is power to the coil.

faulty crank sensor would normally kill spark and fuel together but it's worth trying a known working one.

You're 100% sure the new engine was a runner?
