hope this works its taken about an hour

So iv been helping my mate out this year, he works for himself fabricating all sorts of shizzle basically. After a run of bad luck i agreed to help him out so below are a few pics of what iv spent most of my time doing up until about august this year He fabricated a front subframe to accomodate an r1 conversion and wanted to market it by putting it in a car, on not much of a budget. So below is a bit of an insight into it. i thought a mini, how hard can it be?

Heres one he made earlier, rwd hayabusa turbo for an isreali customer..was something like 450whp

Back on track...After returning from a stint on the powerstation outages we are 12 weeks from Ten of the best and the car is still a shell, the painter for the job lets us down because well, he cant actually paint at this point hours of our lives dissapear in prep work. While doing our day jobs we have 12 weeks to build a car in a hope to compete in the FWD class at ten of the best. so after prep and painting its now around the end of may and heres what we had...a shell! All pics are random from my phone i didnt take them to document the build like this but, there big gaps in the build too

decked it out in bubblewrap so we wouldnt mark anything

FG rear end

wishbones and coilys

custom pedal box and steering wheel/rack

at some point bewteen here and now the carbon roof went on, and the carbon doors painted. doors also needed some nice light windows

nice light seats

somewhere inbetween here we put the engine in its cradle and put it on the car

gear change and handbrake

fabbed a bettery isolation/wiring box and chucked a digi dash in

some soldering happened and the rear lights went in and the engine worked so we dropped it on its wheels. stickerman payed us a couple if visits also some carbon was cut for the doorcards and the doors hung on. starting to look like a car

its now a few days before TOTB. inbetween here the seats/harness' went in, front end put on and it was taken for a couple of runs..everything else was bolted up and day before TOTB we ran into turbo problems, we took it up to elvington and got it scrutineered in a hope we could fix it and worked til 1am that sunday and had to call it a draw. The seals in the blower were pishing oil into the exhaust side..no money and no hope of another turbo we would just have to park it up and chill out with a few beers for the day (oh well?)

Heres a couple of pics from the day. bit gutting not being able to run it and having poured everything into it, working through the night in the days leading up to TOTB, going home having 4 hours kip and getting back on it. I had no idea how much effort had to go into building something like this

Couple of weeks later we did mini in the park, then the turbo was replaced and a grudgement day arose at elvington, the car was loaded up and brought back 1st place trophy for the FWD class that day. Not a bad result 1st time out we didnt think!

Mag feature for total kit car was arranged, no pics from that day but thats out in the new year..so after getting back on paid work and making a few refinments to the kit heres the main bit, his subframe he cobbled up coated candy pink it comes with everything to convert ANY mini to r1 engine and remains FWD, chains/sprockets, wishbones, coilovers, diff...just add a 4XV or 5JJ yamaha engine and your away

one with our N/A manifolds

So a bit of a shoestring story but you get the idea. The car weighs in at 496KG and with the turbo on actuator pressure its still on low-blow, but somewhere between 200-250hp we think. theres no real spec, its just light as possible with carbon/composite stuff, our own conversion obviously, mini lites and 12.000rpm. Everything barring the carbon doors/bonnet/boot was done in house by us. including the carbon roof, side exit exhaust, headers.

Thanks for reading

That is pretty awesome, still has the character of a "normal" mini.

How good good does it pull away ? I would imagine quite a bit of wheel spin.

That weight is very impressive, I'd be happy to keep mine under 800 when the cage is in and that car has a proper man cage and is still well lighter. Nuts.
