I would say closer to 30 than 40 but it will differ based on your car/engine/tyre size.

i follow the handbook guidelilnes for both my Nova and MX5 which is around 28-30 for the Nova and surprisingly as low as 26 on the MX5
i've played around with the MX5 tyre pressures but have to conseed that 26 is the best setting

Mk5 Astra pressures are really high, 37 sounds about right if that's the forum you were looking on.

Just about everything else seems to be 32psi.

I just stick 32psi in all my tyres.
Never bother to check manu specs and have been fine for the 10yrs i have been driving, FWD, RWD and 4wd, never noticed any difference.

32/26 as per Vauxhall's handbook for the Astra VXR, think the Fiesta is something like 32/29 in the handbook

Z20LEH?
35/35 or 38/35 depending on size and profile.
