do you have a upvc door? did you lock it?

if not, chisel in the frame near the door handle will open it.

done this a few times on my own door.

My mum and dad live 2 minutes away if I walked slowly, they weren't in though.

Garage door key is in the house.

I don't actually own a chisel thinking about it.

it's the same for everyone mate, my dad has done it for a few people down his road aswell.

brebaz, it only happens if i walk around to put something in the recycling bin as i won't lock the door then, the wind will blow it shut.

whenever i go out i lock it.

Yours sounds different to a normal upvc door Ben. If it's locking behind you then it must have some sort of night latch/ Yale lock on it. Most upvc doors only lock when you throw the handle up then lock with the key which stops the handle from coming down, no chisel is opening that unless you use it to break the cylinder.

because if you shut the door and don't pull the handle up and/or lock it, it hasn't locked and can be opened.

google it, sure theres plenty of topics on said subject.

as above dave. didn't lock it, hence why it can be opened with a chisel.

Most upvc doors can be opened from the outside when unlocked. Does yours need the key to release the latch, like a Yale lock on a wood door?

Mine doesn't latch when it shuts, that would be a complete pita.

It was properly locked.
