Hi just recently bought a Pioneer DEH P7450 headunit and a amp. I'm trying to connect a sub up to it. Now I have managed to connect everything up and there is power going into the amp and music plays an all. But there is no sound coming out of my sub. I know everything is working correctly cos I have tested everything on my mates headunit and my headunit is working cos I tested the preouts with a house stereo and it played the sounds. Does anyone know if there is a setting on my headunit that needs to be turned on before the sub woofer can be used.
Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks

-try turning the sub volume setting up, might be on 0 as default (on headunit)?
-have u tuned the gain and crossover dials on the amp? if not do so
gain should be at 75%
not sure on crossover - depends
wired incorrectly from the amp?

you need to go into a setting while the headunit is switched off. Think its something like hold down FUNC when the headunit is in standby. In there you will be able to turn sub control ON.
If that doesnt work but it should, check the ground on your amp.

Thanks guys for your help. I did the above and it worked. BUT I think I may have blown the sub cos it played for about 2 minutes then switched itself off. Do you think this is the case.
The amp is a 1200 watt 2 channel 2 ohm stable amp and the sub is a solo baric kicker.

check your ground again it could have come loose, and see if the protection light come up on the amp.
Its unlikely you would have blown it up in 2 mins.

I have checked all the cabling and also checked to see if it works on another amp and I get the same response on both amps. Only thing I can think of is to test the sub ob someone elses set up.
Thanks for you help buddy.
