I've seen a couple of times a method of dodging getting points on your license....
Basically, say you get a £60 fine and 3 points.
You send a cheque to pay for the fine of £60.05, meaning that your due 5p change, which has to be given in the form of a cheque.
Apparently If yo don't pay the cheque in, the case can never be closed, meaning the points can't be released onto your license.
I assume it's bollocks, but has anyone got any feedback to this?

It might have worked in 1905, I bet the 5'0 dont accept cheques anymore because of this.

They'd just send you a letter saying you need to send a cheque for the correct amount within X amount of days otherwise they'll take further action.

Heard it lots of times but never known anyone actually do it.
Sounds like bollocks to me, no reason it would need to work like that.

It's complete crap, they send you a cheque back for the difference and if you don't cash it that's your problem.
So you end up paying the fine, getting points and a further 5p down

Is it possible to delay them?
Send them a cheque for 1p and every time they send one back asking for the rest send them another 1p. Rinse and repeat.

On the same sort of line, i have a couple a credit cards with 20p on them, so it cost them as they have to send letter each month.

The amount of paper and envelopes they will go through it'll cost them next to nothing.

My mum got done on average speed cameras last Carlisle.
Came over from Italy, rented a car and blitzed through the 50 limit at 70-80 completely oblivious to the cameras and didn't get done as she's 'not from round ere'. Stupid cow.

This.
Our office now deals with all fixed penalty ticket payments & this is what we'd do with such a cheque.
All these myths out there are a right ball ache, and cause a shit load of extra work that isn't necessary.
