So we went to New York in July and were staying with some friends who had a book of things to go and see. After coming back we thought it would be a fun idea to do a similar thing in London as it's only a quick 30 minute train ride into Paddington from our house.
The reason for the thread is to help document how many activities we have completed and also give people an idea of some of the things on offer in London that they might not have come across before.
So here is the book we are picking activities from...
Today was day one of the challenge. We didn't spend a lot of time planning it before we set off as it has been a crazy week.
Activity 1 - Visit Trafalgar Square - Cost £0
We've been before but it was good to see the Olympics countdown timer and also a large boat in a glass bottle.
Activity 2 - Visit Britain's Smallest Police Station - Cost £0
Located in the South East corner of Trafalgar square there is room for only one officer.
Activity 3 - Visit The National Gallery - Cost £0
Another free place to visit which is great (donations welcome of course). We didn't look at everything but they've got a few Constable and Van Gogh paintings worth seeing. The gallery is right next to Trafalgar Square.
Activity 4 - Eat at Baozi Inn (Chinese) - Cost £8.63 (Average)
25 Newport Court, WC2H 7JS
Tucked away in Chinatown this little restaurant was great. The service was quick and the food fantastic. The food choice was a bit different to anything I've had before, but was well worth the risk.
Activity 5 - Visit Chinatown - Cost £0
Just around the corner from the Baozi Inn was bustling Chinatown, even more so with Chinese New Year being next week.
You can't beat a bit of MSG...
Activity 6 - Watch The Street Performers In Covent Garden - Cost £0
Off to Covent Garden next. There was the usual statue people and jugglers to watch, but also a funny guy dressed as a dog...
Activity 7 - Visit An Old Sweet Shop - Cost £5
Hope and Greenwood - 1 Russell Street, WC2B 5JD
Located a couple of minutes from the main shopping area in Covent Garden is this olde worldy sweet shop. Stopped in here for some snacks.
Activity 8 - Visit The Cartoon Museum - Cost £5.95
35 Little Russell Street, WC1A 2HH
Last stop of the day was to a small museum displaying cartoons from across the ages. Plenty to look at and well worth a visit as an alternative cheap activity that is not as well known.
There are loads of wacky and wonderful things to do and visit that are in the book. The plan is to keep updated the thread after each trip in.

That's not a reply, that's being a pedant.
I need to spend more time in London, been there twice, once as a student and once in charge of some students, didn't see much either time.

I only go to London if I'm watching football, otherwise I avoid it. Too busy for my liking.

Seems like a cool thing to do. I've only been once, 5 years ago, to watch my dad do the marathon for the 15th time. The weather was miserable, and I didn't like it, but, I think I might think differently if I went back with the mrs.

I've been to London far too many times through work, the last thing I'd want to do is go there as a tourist
