im trying to work out if the main bassy riff is a result of just the bass, or do all guitars contribute, i have no idea about playing instruments, i played violin at primary school and recorder

Oh yeh of course it gives a bass line but that distinctive rattle comes from loads of mid range on the head (amp) When guitars are tuned that low you don't need much bass frequency anyway, just sounds messy otherwise.
