There is no definative way unfortunatly.

Is it an early or late engine?? Coilpack or dizzy??

coz i want to do a rebuild dont wanna get the wrong parts plus dvla need to know as its gettin done properly

All square tooth engines were coilpack (except c20let obviously)

DVLA only need to know the engine number and CC mate, they don't need the original car

the engine numer that is on it is 114040302 rang vaux and its not on there system shouldnt be two ones at the start ???

No they aren't my engine is square tooth and has a dizzy. They were the last of the dizzy range before they changed over to the coil pack.

just write c20xe114040302 and 1998cc on your logbook and send it off

saying that mine is a dizzy model square tooth its got 89 under the rocker cover read something on the net says check there and it will tell you the year your engine was made???

Shouldn't be two ones at the start. Should be C20XE or 20XE followed by eight numbers 14xxxxxx

i know seems a bit dodgey if you ask me mate any sugestions ?? its a dizzy with square tooth set up is it an early or late type??

Not all the time - my engine number in the white Corsa is 038 CA 79258, all stamped properly etc. I got the engine from Beardy many years ago.

If anyone knows where my engine is from, I'd like to know the history of it!
