My temp needle to rocket to the red in no less than 2mins?

I just replaced the coolant sensor and it drove absoloutely fine, just bonkers hot? Sensor only goes on one way, impossible to fit incorrectly.

Any ideas?

Faulty clocks possibly? Or maybe the new sensor is shagged too.
