HI peeps,

Revs drop down to 500 then shot up to 2.5k now and again.
Very rough idling also.
Also when just cruising you can feel that it wants to jump and stutter.
Now this happens intermittently, can be ok for a day or too then has a off day.

So far all plugs leads etc been checked and ok.

When in at garage( a mates garage) tested the emissions and they were sky high!!
This could be down to the fact that the lambda sensor is fecked, which will feck up
the fuelling etc and make the car run crap.
How does this sound...sound ok...Getting a new lambda sensor fitted this week..

Any ideas peeps...
a zorst gasket was fecked also from front pipe to cat replacement pipe, this been fixed.

Had the car 2 years and this is the first bit of bother i've had with it..

Idle control valve, lambda sensor or ecu... could be all three...

clean valve with bit WD40

also purge the ecu as well... disconnect the battery for an hour or more, reconnect and start the car. 'DO NOT REV THE ENGINE' leave it running for 20 seconds and your good to go...

Sounds like what mine did when the cam timing was out.

If i disconnect my lambda sensor then my car still runs pretty smoothly.

I'd be looking at something that has a bit more of an impact, like map sensor maybe, check the connections. Have you got any fault codes up?

or it could be an air leak

There is no fault code showing....
emissions are sky high though and said this is due to the sensor...

If anybody is intrested........

Well been into vaux today and all sorted.
Not b4 I broke down on the busiest roundabout in Glenrothes and had
to get a tow truck out to take me to the vaux garage

All the symtoms...Revs up and down.Black smoke.Cutting out.High emissions.High fuel
consumption down to a COOLING TEMP CONTROL SENSOR !!!!!

Vaux were very good today.Put my front splitter back on after tow driver knocked it
half off..All in all for the diagnostics and sensor fitting and buying labour etc all
in was £71.56..thought it was very resonable.

Car running sweet now.Going in on friday to get Down pipe, new plugs and a flush and oil and filter
changed..I'm all happy again.

I'm not getting that done at Vaux..
My Bro-in law runs a garage so I get it done there m8.
At Mates rates Much Cheapness..

Sure Vaux charge about £35 for it.. Because it takes time etc, flushing and that.

I had exactly the same problem with my 1.4 16v sport last summer & i think vauxhall changed my coolant temp sensor.
Now im having exactly the same problem again im so p**sed off especially when im at the traffic lights & my car is reving up to 2500revs & back down to 1000revs by itself! It also feels like it wants to stall sometimes & sometimes it does some strange kangaroo jurking!
I also noticed a bit of smoke coming from my exhaust the other day too, it looked to be black but im not sure. I think i will have to take a trip to vauxhall next week.
