Hello,

iv been on here many years and there are some of you who love diesels and im in the very cheap end of the market in buying one.

im not looking for anything fast, nothing over £600 so whats the opinions on reliablity with these. do they last, common faults, parts, are the service's pricey and main services, clutches etc etc. should i be put off high mileage ones etc etc! help would be great!

Sound like a tractor, quite 'heavy' and quite slow but will actually do 60MPG all day long (not internet figures like my BMW/VAG 2.0 TDI will go 70+ on the motorway). They are brilliant little workhorses.

Try and get a later Zest3 as they have PAS, electric windows and an airbag.

As with most diesel stuff, it's slightly more expensive than the petrol counterpart but on the hole parts are filthy cheap!

They are very loud, but good if you want a car to not care about. Reliable too, my 2005 Corsa is in the garage more than my sister's N reg 106 D

Why a 106 and not a Corsa?

I have an L reg 1.5, just coming up to 210k with no major problems. I have had it since 120k and since then replaced the starter motor and alternator, front discs and pads once and new shoes on the back once and 3 tyres.

thankyou for all the comments and cementing my thoughts. they last forever etc etc. i would like 306 td, but i want to do with out a turbo as my insurance will just raise and i may as well keep my bmw.

never thought about a corsa, but from taking a look, the prices seem to be either really pricey or cheap with problems.

my bmw is up for sale, so when it sells i can search. still going along the lines of a pug though.

Hello Fro! hows it going? you still enjoying the vag? whats next?
