If you can justify it you can have it, if your mitigation statement was "I want a Ferrari because it's sunny" you'd never recover in full.
I worked in claims recovery for 4 years and chased payment for hire daily.

because you have to sign legal documentation stating you have no other car, for very expensive cars its the first thing the tpi will look into. if the case goes to court its easy enough to find out if you own more than one car then youre liable for the hire bill yourself.

Imagine if someone with a crashed Ferrari used a claims management company

if the person dealing with it all was leeM, the guy would end up driving around in a nissan micra for 6 months.

well thats bullshit as when someone hit my car and i got a hire car, they didn't ask whether i had access to another car at all, they just said you are entitled to one, so i took it.

you should have signed a mitigation statement and hire agreement. in all that you agree you need a car and dont have access to another etc, and also that you understand and agree that youre ultimately liable for the cost of the hire if the third party refuse to pay for any reason.
obviously the people in the callcentre at accidnet management cmopanies try not to go into too much detail on this because it puts a lot of people off
