right after failing abit in my choice of sat navs i'm after some advice
i either need to figure out a way of getting my tomtom to auto start with ignition or buy a garmin
after trying out my tom tom it took ages to find a satellite. so if i can get it to auto start i might need an external gps receiver
i know that the garmin will auto start but might suffer the same way the tom tom does in terms of low signal
is there any 4.3" sat navs out there that are good and have external gps receivers?

Why not get a Double Din headunit that offers satnav?

munchie are you any good with extending wires?
could you split a sat nave and extend a power button or a gps receiver?

Power button will likely be surface-mounted rather than wired; if so then you'd need to remove the switch and solder to the pads which isn't an easy task. Likewise the GPS module will be on the same board.
Easiest option would be to either grab something like the CD70 or one of those 'OEM' head units that float around with built in sat nav (like this - HERE).
