As Lee said build quality much better on facelift less rattles. My mates 2004 one would drive me nuts wit the amount of rattles it has Druive a few asthe ride is pretty hard for a cruiser IMO.

my budget won't stretch to a facelift unfortunately

i would expect a hard ride tbh with the 18's, can't be any worse than a puma .

Its a sports car not a 7series.

The driving position is low, it is "difficult" as such to get in and out of being so low.

If you want to waft everywhere get an SLK.

Obviously yeah better than a stripped out car. it will be BMW smooth, but its a short wheelbase, stiff suspensioned roadster. It will be hard.

SL500.. job done

Z4's are lovely looking motors, and the BMW auto boxes are pretty damn good (especially the 6 speed ones)..... ....when they are working..

the main issues are the doors, with a pre-face the doors felt as rattly as my saxo and when you shut them you can hear the glass move, it sounds like its going to smash. facelift sounds like a bmw door.
i know its only the door and not a big thing but it would make me cringe every time i shut a door on my dads old one (he had a 53 reg or thereabouts before the 56 reg)

Interior plastics were cheaper also with less foam backin which meant a lot of dash componants rattle due to the firm suspension.

Find one thats sat on the motorway all its life and you'll be fine. One thats been driven round london all its life is going to sound like its got M&M's behind the dash! I know this as I've been in one like it!

actually yeah, the older one had an identical dash but the newer one is that soft touch sort of plastic that feels nicer and looks more modern/expensive

Wanted one before Christmas as the prices were dropping.

Seem to have picked up just a little now the weather is getting better.

Even so, proper bargains if you get a looked after one.

I drove 3 (didn't buy any). First was mint to drive and condition even with 92000 miles (04) but no service history and an overdue oil service light. Dealer wasn't interested in helping.

Second was a total dog. 50,000 miles on a 53. Cream leather was fucked and it rattled like a bastard. From everywhere.

3rd was 60000 miles with a brilliant price but a sticking roof. Hassle sorting it out.

Gave up after that
