basically got brand new front tyres and straight away as soon as i turned i could feel the difference steering is so light i actually don't mind non power steering now. my other tyres were not road legal where bold and didn't know that it would make my steering so hard

bald tyres would have less grip so in theory easier to turn? could be your old tyres were not inflated enough?

new tyres are always usually like this, they need wearing in

only really noticable on non power steering cars though

Check the pressures in your new tyres, they could be be over inflated.

i did check the pressure in my tyres. 30 all round.

This is about the only explanation, your old tyres were probably sitting at about 10psi or something

new tyres have a waxy sort of coating, they need wearing in a little for maximum grip
