The extradition rules in this country are a complete joke. I don't know how any politician can defend it.

Every time it happens it highlights exactly the problem...

Mrs May had "carefully considered all relevant matters"

What the hell does Mrs May know about it. present the evidence to a judge and let them decide not bloody politicians.

Complete mockery that to get someone from the US we have to present all the evidence to a US judge

Can't throw a terrorist who came in illegally out but can throw somebody who had a website about downloading TV shows, nuts.

At least you'd use the correct spelling.

As it says in the article, if they will extradite a 65 year old man, they won't give a shit about chucking this guy out.

The 65 year old was even refused bail as they claimed he was a risk to society. Er this is a case about selling arms years and years ago. He's not doing anything of the sort now so why can't they let him go and stay in a hotel with his wife.

This case is even more of a joke because there is no difference between what he does and google do. Both search engines that 'can' return links to illegally hosted files.... but we don't want to upset google do we

Also I don't even think he was selling them directly, he ran a freight forwarding company.

If they sold DVDs at a reasonable price then there wouldn't be this problem. IMO DVDs should cost a fiver.

Yip, cheaper DVD's would definitely improve UK extradition policy, great commentary on the subject.

I am sick of reading about the US extraditing people and the UK saying yes no problem..what happened to protecting its citizens?

The law was brought in originally for terrorists iirc yet is rarely used for that.

http://ethnic-minority.libdems.org/en/article/2012/563319/about-time-a-review-of-the-uk-us-extradition-treaty

interesting article.

"The US does not allow its citizens to be extradited to the UK for crimes committed on US soil without proper evidence and gives its citizens constitutional protections that are starkly lacking this side of the pond."
