Why do the pit crew still use the boards to indicate positions and time differances etc when they could just inform the drivers over radio ?

Removing unecessary distractions - pit board holds key information and si displayed on the 'easier' area of the track, a radio dialogue could be misinterpreted, too lengthy, become a conversation, cause distraction etc etc etc
I'm just guessing btw

I kinda thogh that but then the board itself is still a distraction.I wonder if its a drivers choice as well.

being displayed on a straight isn't a distraction however it's used as a backup. Radio's can fail and sometimes without each other knowing immediately.

Live Lee pretty much covered it, officially they're there as a comms backup but messages can easily be misinterpreted when they're bouncing around at 190mph rattling their head around the cockpit - usually alright for words and conversations but when it's numbers and decimal places involved you need a good quality feed to get the message... you can't just fill in the gaps based on common sense.

also the radio comms has been known to stop working before so much easier and quicker just to hold a board out. god knows how the drivers manage to read it though.
