yes they doo earn this, some even earn more, its the same kinda pay for the sewerege drivers, when i was a hgv mechanic i was speaking to a driver who works for severntrent driving raw sewage around, he said he was paid £47000 a year, and all he had to do was drive from one place to another, when he was dropping the load of he didnt even get out the truck, other people had to deal with it.

Such a joke. If they were striking about the cost of petrol, the whole country would probably be behind them.

Just like the tube drivers, hugely over paid and are now just getting greedy! Bunch of inbred pricks tbh. Why anyone who does fook all should get paid that much ill never know

We live in a World where people who make a difference get paid bugger all, what's the problem with tankers asking for more money and going on strike ?

Go do your HGV licence and sit in a cab for 9 hours a day if you think it will be good.

I was lead to believe the strike was over health and safety to which they upped the hours from 9 to 11 for the few remaining drivers who wasn't on stike to do which was somewhat ironic but seems it's for more money.

Because they're in a disproportionately strong position to bring the country to a standstill and as a result, able to play games like that.

Smoke and mirrors, they're no worse off than a lot of other drivers or workers in other professions, in fact they're better trained and regulated and have better equipment than most of the haulage sector. Except the rest of the sector gets paid based on market forces and competing for work so they don't wield the same power. The H&S angle is complete bollocks, even the video featured the best example they have, Buncefield, which was caused by a combined failure of instrumentation and pipeline hardware precautions, bugger all to do with the people driving lorries.

They're legally bound by the same conditions as every other HGV driver on the road and there are many, many other drivers who carry around equally dangerous if not more dangerous cargo. But they can't cause mass panic in one afternoon.

Which does undermine the whole case that they're overworked. Plus they're still within driving hours and tachograph regulations, still not doing nights out, mostly trunking and set runs and deliveries.

They're able to do it, same as anyone who strikes is able to do it. They just choose not to because they're greedy and want more money. So rather than go get another job, they prick about causing chaos.
