I had the Clutch and Dual Mass Flywheel changed about 6 weeks ago. Since then when cold it has been hard to get it into second. I confronted the garage that did the work back at the time and I was fobbed off without a reason just that that must have been how it was when I took it to them. I can easily get around it by double clutching or missing second however it isn't ideal by any stretch of the imagination. Could it simply be they have put oil that is too thick in the box and it takes longer to warm ? Why would it only affect second ?

Also, I noticed that when cold, the brake fluid level is full in the bottle, to the point that if I opened it it would over flow, when warm however the reservoir looks empty. Is it worth topping up when it looks empty or will it just overflow when it cools ? Does the clutch need bleeding ? Maybe the slave cylinder ?

Spent enough on the car in the last few months so don't want to put it into a garage and for them to feed me bull and rip me off.

What car are we talking about here? I take it the car has a hydraulic clutch? I would start with bleeding the clutch up again mate.

Right everywhere I call is being useless and are all shut over the weekend. Is it possible to do without a pressure bleeder ? Whats involved as I might just have to try it myself at this rate

It's just like doing the brakes. Undo nipple, put a pipe on the end with a non return valve on the end into a bottle of fluid.

Have a mate work the pedal until no air and a good feel...........

It doesn't matter about the non return valve as long as you tighten the bleed nipple back up before you release the clutch pedal.

Bump

Any ideas ? Really frustrating now !

Been about 9 weeks since the work was done by the garage, if I try and take it to them and explain are they likely to tell me to do one ? I did bring it to their attention but had an argument with the boss as he was riding the clutch when we went out it in and driving like a twat.

I'm not familiar with the gear linkage setup on your car but i'd assume it's not been put back together 100% accurate.

If it's all good then i'd suspect gearbox fault. It's not uncommon on these.

How much would you expect a garage to charge to have a look at it ?

Seems strange it happened straight after clutch being changed
