Basicly whilst strengthening the gimp two plates have been welded together, the problem is there's bare metal in between them with no way to get paint on it... Although once sealed no water can get in..
Will this rust? Mate reckons I should've used weld through prime?
Really don't want to cut it all off?

If nothing can get in, then why would it rust?

Even if water can get in or not it will rust because of the moisture in the air, why not drill a 10mm hole and inject some cavity wax / shutz in then fit a grommet in the hole

If in doubt cut it out.
Should do it now before it's to late. If you don't it'll just do your head in knowing it's there.
Weldable zinc primer FTW.

Drill a hole, spray a bit of corrosion inhibitor in about it, weld up the hole would be my suggestion

Put a hole in and use bilt hamber wax stuff, the nozzle sprays 360 so will cover all angles

I Wouldnt bother with zinc primer, it won't be as effective as cavity wax sprayed through the special cavity injecting straw thing as that's what it's designed for..

Hmmm I wouldn't mate, personally would just hold the nozzle up to the hole if poss. Means it'll still spray out in a mist, more chance of it hitting all the surfaces
Cavity wax or the like would be ideal, don't know how easy that sort of stuff is to get a hold of though
