I've got something to sell on eBay that's fairly valuable, has anyone on here experimented with what's best - a high starting price and no reserve or a 99p start and then set a reserve price?
If I get close enough to the reserve and still wish to sell the item, can I still sell it through eBay?

Either hinder the auction imo. High start makes people not bother unless it's worth a lot more and a reserve just stops people from bidding unless you give a clue what the reserve is. Personally I just put in the minimum I want to get with another shill account.

Imo, they should ban reseve prices on everything but vehicles / items over 2.5k. Waste of time, all you get is a pile of cunts asking what the reserve is.

Found a cost calculator - reserves are quite expensive to do actually. If the item doesn't get to the right price can I just bottle it before the auction ends and cancel everyone's bids/delete the listing?

Best thing to do is start at a price you're happy with, cheapest and you'd be happy!

Ditto, I always start off at the least i'd be happy to let the item go for. 99p starts are great for fees etc.. but just wait for a free listing day or something.

Easy said than done really, since the most activity typically happens in the last 5mins. Just do a shill bid, cheapest and easiest.

I find stuff usually goes for what its worth, never bother with reserves on anything and always 0.99p starting bid. Just put it on for a week rather than 1,3 days to ensure you get enough exposure.
