I just called them, I didn't have PPI on mine, now I look stupid
I was relying on that one as it was quite a bit of money.

Even if I don't get any PPI back, getting my credit report has highlighted the fact that I had a Debenhams credit card and Next Directory account open and registered to my old address
Closed both now

Surely they can just say "WTF - you didn't even know if you had it just now?"
If you don't know then you have been missold
This. Also works if you did know about it but didn't have the option to opt out of it.

Did you sign-up for experian or just buy a one-off report? If it['s the latter can you point me in the right direction please?

Or for free (properly free) use www.noddle.co.uk
Helps as a guide. Not as widely used as experian or equifax but does what it has to do. Just found I have a store card open that I settled and closed 3 months ago

Is it possible to forward it to me, obviously with all the details deleted / blanked out. Just so I can have a template to write one?
I filled in a questionnaire from moneysupermarket website i believe, filled in everything i could and sent it to the people currently responsible for my account. Was GE Money but Santander took them over.
received a reply back saying they are looking into it, awaiting to hear back about a figure.

I only checked my 2 current Natwest Credit Cards. All my old store cards were either never used (only signed up to get 10% off etc) or had such a small balance on, the PPI would have been almost nothing.

Im pretty sure i always said no to insurance, but once loans were finished i always shredded the paperwork so got no history bar on credit report last four numbers of account and how much it was for. Is this enough info to fill in the template?
Scary how much finance ive had over the years!
Almost all gone now, wish id never got that first loan, snowballed after that. Could have had a much better lifestyle saving up for stuff instead of wanting it there and then. Might have had something to show for it now too.

I still don't know how people failed to recognise money was being taken from their accounts and didn't ever question it.
Fair play if you get something back now, but its as much the banks fault as it is your own (if you paid it)

I got £160 back and it only took me 3 phone calls.
I phoned 2 banks and my old car finance company. Turns out I only had PPI on one of my old credit cards, but I got £160 out of it, better than nothing.
