I was there at the ceremony. It was shit. Full of old people/kids. They want to try and get away from the whole Staines only being know for Ali G lol "Reinvent" the place as they say. Its bollocks!! I'll still just call it Staines :-)
Didnt know this had made news in places other than spelthorne though

I only knew about this because I have a friend that lives near there and he posted a link to that BBC article on his FB page
"Staines-upon-Thames" doesn't even have a good ring to it... Richmond-upon-Thames yes, Henley-on-Thames yes, but Staines-upon-Thames? FFS
