You look at Spains squad then look to England and see the likes of Carroll and Henderson, basically anyone including Rooney and realise how far behind we are. Jesus wept

There was not 1 point through the competition that they looked like going out

The fact they have been playing at a percentage of their potential and are still light years ahead of everyone else shows how good they are.

Dry your eyes, they are better than England.

Of course they are but I don't think they have been best over the course of this competition. Only a goal away and an 88th minute goal to stop them going out on group stages against Croatia, scraping through on pens against Portugal, who I think if hadn't fucked up there order could easily have won it. Apart from there convincing performance lat night they have been entirely unconvincing. I'd say Italy have played better over the course

I'd agree they have been boring until last night. But it's like they've made their way through the tournament doing what they needed to do regardless of whether it was exciting or not and saving themselves for one big performance in the final. And it worked for them. So fair play.

Steve, you're on crack. That performance last night was rediculously good, they showed a maturity throughout the tournament and were lethal when it absolutely mattered. I backed Germany to win, but Spain have proven again that they're not going anywhere fast, no-one knows how to deal with them, be it at 30% or 100%, incredible team.

I don't buy that, do you think they would risk a 50/50 pen shoot out in the name of only doing what they needed to. No they have been average this comp, but put in a sterling performance last night, that about sums it up for me, one brilliant performance

Italy were good against Germany but to suggest they have played better than Spain the entire tournament is laughable.

Spain showed last night how much better they are than Italy.

I must admist i was suprised at the difference in quality, spain were miles ahead last night, wether that was a brilliant performance, or a game to far for italy who may have been fucked, or a combination of the two who knows

I know. Spain are simply better.

Pirlo and to a lesser extent Montilivo and De Rossi make Italy tick. They are still miles behind Iniesta and Xavi though who are 2 of the greatest midfielders of all time. Then there are folk like Busquets, a 23 year old that has won every major trophy there is to win in football.

Why is he too old? He is still one of the best midfielders in the world, you don't have to run 15km a game or be a 100m sprinter to be a deep lying playmaker.

Spain stopped their best player from doing anything, pirlo. Something germany didnt do, and without pirlo balotelli had no chance of scoring.

Spain as a team full of talent, So its hard for teams to break down their play when theyre no where near as good
