Can anyone recommend a good pair or give advice on what to consider when buying a pair?
Not fussed on how they look just need some support so I don't develop shin splints or Achilles problems (started with pain in those areas)
Thanks

I wear Asics for the gym/running.
There not best looking shoe but they serve a purpose. Really, really comfortable with really good springy souls.

Looked at asics there's such a big price range! Is it a case of most expensive are the best or will a £40 pair be just as good?

Tbh for what you are doing you don't need dead expensive ones, but at the same time I wouldn't go for the cheapest. £60-£70 range if you can afford it will be perfect I reckon. A decent pair of trainers will last ages and stop injuries.
Is there a Sweatshop in Norwich? They will put you on a treadmill to see your running style then tell you which type of running shoes you need.
Tbh i've got a pair of adidas climacool that i've had years which are really comfortable. I highly rate adidas trainers.
Places like SportSoccer etc sell Asics etc at cheaper prices too.

dont just buy anything from any old sports shop. If youve never had a pair of proper running shoes before get yourself to a proper running shop, they will get you on a treadmill/analyse your gait and recommend the type of shoes for your foot type. A good shop wont pressure you into having to buy the most expensive pair, pick the pair that feels most comfortable.

This!
Got decent service from the one in MK and in the end (was offered a load of shoes in different price ranges) went for some 'last seasoned' New Balance that were £40 (down from £110 or so) which fitted like a glove and helped straighten out my habit of outward rolling which the bloke spotted.

As above. The one in MK was top notch. He watched me run and bought out loads of trainers. Didn't ask me my budget so I was fearing the worst Turned out the most comfy ones were also the cheapest. Worked out well.
