My iPad did this. I had to assign the slide switch to be used to lock the screen, turn off iPad, back on then change switch to make it silence it and it's worked since.

Well that's the main thing. I would just live with it until you upgrade to your next phone Nic, no point spending money to get it fixed properly when you're going to change it soon IMO.
